Traditional craftmanship has always played a very important role in the life of the province of Castellón.
The region offers the visitor a wide range of museums of all types, located throughout the province, both on the coast and further inland.
Castellón is home to the Museu de Belles Arts (The Museum of Fine Arts), which offers an analysis of local archaeological history from the Palaeolithic Era to the early Middle Ages in a spacious, modern setting. It also boasts a magnificent collection of ceramics, paintings and carvings from the Vall de Crist monastery, and an interesting collection of 17th Century paintings.
The Espai d'Art Contemporani(Centre for Contemporary Art) holds exhibitions of the latest contemporary art.
The Ethnological Museum (Museo Etnológico) is located in the Ermita de Sant Jaume de Fadrell, and houses a collection of objects used locally for different activities and trades, and which have shaped the daily and economic life of the town.
