TUMMY TUCK

Location Webcam Print

The aim of this surgery is to create an aesthetically pleasing and natural looking abdominal area.
The shape of our tummies is determined by our muscles, body fat and skin. A change to any or all of these factors has an aesthetically unpleasing effect on this part of the body.
The most common causes are obesity, stomach bloating, gravity and muscular diastasis.
Surgery on the abdominal muscles and removing excess skin can correct the gravity and muscular diastasis, with a repositioning of the belly button if necessary.
This surgery has a permanent effect, improving the aesthetic appeal of the tummy area.
This surgery is frequently combined with lipoplasty to further enhance one's figure.
It can also be carried out in conjunction with breast reduction or enlargement, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery and face-lifts.
The patient should be aware that abdominal surgery leaves a long and sometimes visible scar.

PRE AND POST-OPERATION PHOTOS

Pre and post-operation photos are needed in order to carefully study the area to be operated upon.
Pre and post-operation photos are also useful for comparative purposes

ANAESTHESIA

Surgery may be performed using general or local anaesthetic. The patient should stay overnight in the Clinic, for about 24 hours.

DURATION OF THE OPERATION

Surgery lasts 3 hours. If it is combined with lipoplasty on the flanks or inner thighs the time increases to 4 ½ hours.

PAIN

POST SURGERY PERIOD some discomfort might be felt which can be relieved with the analgesics which are prescribed. After the patient leaves the Clinic this discomfort consists in having to walk slightly bent over for a week and the possibility of lack of feeling in the abdominal wall for a while, generally lasting from 3 to 6 months.

SCARRING

All patients who undergo this surgery should be aware of the extensive scarring involved. The suture process is intradermic on the lower part of the abdomen with some stitches around the belly button and in liposuction areas which are painlessly removed in a few minutes by a nurse 5 to 12 days post surgery period.

POST SURGERY PERIOD

The possible complications which may arise from tummy tucks are hematomas, seromas, skin necrosis, infection, suture reaction, thrombophlebitis and fat embolism. Hypertrophic scarring and keloids are complications which depend on the patient's own scarring and are not related to this surgery.
36 - 48 hours after their surgery, the patient can leave hospital and return home, where they should rest for the first few days before walking slightly bent, without tensing the abdomen for a further 12 – 14 days, without making any extra effort.
They should wear the support belt for 2 months
From the third week onwards, patients can return to a normal life, albeit without doing any sport or violent exercise. All patients should attend VODDER Method Manual Lymph Drain sessions led by a specialist in the area. These are necessary in order to ensure full recuperation and improved aesthetics for the affected region.
It is important to strictly follow all recommendations given to the patient throughout the cosmetic surgery process.
